The Evolution of Confidence: My Journey from Behind the Camera to the Front

Once upon a time, I was the woman who stood behind the curtain. Don’t get me wrong, I've always been a confident presenter and speaker, but that confidence seemed to do a vanishing act when it came to my own business. Particularly with platforms like Instagram Reels and Stories, the spotlight was often too bright, and I chose to linger in the shadows.

But then two pivotal things happened. They say you stop giving a damn about a lot of things when you: a) Have a baby

b) Hit the big 3-0

Turns out, they’re onto something! Both these milestones shifted my perspective and the very way I perceived myself and the content I put out.

Enter 'Car Chats,' my recent brainchild that marries the informal nature of vlogs with the depth of podcasts. The feedback was electric. The love I received was unparalleled, and what did that do? It supercharged my confidence, pushing me to keep showing up, and driving me to keep showing up with unbridled enthusiasm.

The art of not giving a fuck? It’s the art of being yourself. And I'm here to tell you, it's done wonders for my content. But more than that, it’s allowed me to speak directly to the introverts out there. I urge you to carve out a space that feels safe, authentic, and true to who you are. And hey, you might just find yourself stepping closer to the camera over time, just as I did.

Finding Confidence: Tips for Stepping into the Spotlight

  1. The Power of Candidness: Film yourself in natural situations like working at your desk or going for a walk. It not only feels authentic but can serve as a comfortable backdrop for text-based content.

  2. Light It Up: Ever heard of the 'Kris Jenner rule'? Everyone looks better in good lighting! Invest in a ring light or ensure you're filming in a well-lit environment.

  3. Embrace Filters (if you want to!): There's no shame in it. I’m a proud user of the "no filter filter" on Instagram. It’s not about distorting reality but enhancing it.

  4. Speak Your Passion: Dive deep into subjects you're genuinely enthusiastic about. When your heart’s in it, your confidence just naturally shines through.

To those still finding their voice, know that the journey to confidence isn’t linear. There will be moments of doubt, of wanting to hide, of questioning your choices. But trust in the evolution, lean into what feels right, and remember - your story, your way, is worth being shared.
